The primary duty of the Mechanical Engineer is to lead the work of the mechanical design team from schematic design development through contract document phase of a project. Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. The candidate will be responsible to coordinate workload to complete the documents on schedule. Conduct work sessions at project site in conjunction with Project Manager and other disciplines. Candidate shall review mechanical and plumbing documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines. Writes/edits mechanical and plumbing specifications, selects equipment, systems and devices. Coordinates and assists, with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders and is responsible to incorporate agreed upon changes into the project documents Construction contract administration includes shop drawing review and construction meeting attendance. Position includes travel to job sites and on site supervision of design team.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with mechanical emphasis required. PE or near term on track to PE is required. 10+ years’ experience in mechanical and plumbing system design of commercial, institutional, and health care buildings is required. Computer experience using load calculation software, energy modeling software, ACAD, and manufacturer selection of software desired. Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired.
